In an effort to protect dolphins from mounting threats -- and even possible extinction! -- the United Nations has officially declared 2007 the Year of the Dolphin. The United Nations Education Program, working in conjunction with the Whale and Dolphin Conservation Society and several other organizations, plans to involve governments, conservation groups, and the private sector to highlight the need to protect dolphin species. In addition to simply spreading awareness about the various dolphin species, the groups plan to organize various pro-dolphin events around the world. If you have any ideas how to promote dolphin awareness, you can submit your ideas. I'm guessing a dolphin rodeo would NOT count as pro-dolphin.
