In 1975 I was a little boy standing in the movie theater lobby on a Saturday morning. The cardboard cut-out advertising Jaws scared the crap out of me. A giant headed beast with huge teeth emerging from the water would scare anyone. It was years later when I saw the film and the fright vanished as I learned that "Bruce" was hardly a threat when Director Steven Spielberg had to keep asking "is the shark still working?"I was never a Jaws fanboy but it seems many were and still are. Four such fans have spent over a year putting together The Shark is Still Working, a documentary highlighting the impact and legacy of the film on modern culture. They've interviewed the original cast and production crew, Mr. Spielberg included, and no stone is left unturned. Roy Sheider will narrate the film.
There is no release date for the DVD but the film's web site keeps current on latest news, photos, and video clips. The doc's current running time, about 3 hours, puts it on par with Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings.
Even if you're not the biggest fan of Benchley's shark the excitement and passion of the filmmakers should make this a must-see.

1. This sounds like a very cool film. Can't wait.
