Maybe the HMAS Canberra shouldn't be called a wreck dive since it'll be intentionally sunk at Barwon Heads on the Bellarine Peninsula in Southern Victoria. The 4,100 ton military vessel was launched in 1978 and decommissioned in 2005 and served in the Persian Gulf and the Solomon Islands as a long range escort frigate providing air defense, anti-submarine warfare, and surveillance.The sinking is expected to cost a cool $2.8M (Australian), most of it donated by the government. If anyone can find out the expected date of sinking, let us know.
