After announcing Divester's first photo contest, we saw a dramatic increase in the number of underwater shots in Divester's Flickr pool, This Is Why We Dive: clearly, people were eager to submit their images to the contest. For those of you who did, thanks a lot...and I'm amazed by the quality of images taken by "amateur" photographers. There are a LOT of GREAT shots in there! After cutting 1200+ images to only 10, we posted the Top 10 Photos on Divester for your viewing -- and voting -- pleasure.
Well, the deadline has come, the votes have been tallied, and the winner has been identified. Without further ado, I have the great honor of announcing the winner of Divester's first photo contest...
...Caymankriptap's photo of a hawksbill turtle edged out the competition to take the title of Divester's First Photo Contest Winner. Congratulations, Caymankriptap!
What a beautiful shot! The colors are vibrant; the subject is spectacular; and it doesn't hurt that the image has such incredible detail. For his efforts, Caymankriptap will receive a complimentary copy of Beth and Shaun Tierney's Diving the World. Thanks, too, to the Tierneys for providing a copy of their book and whittling the candidates down to the Final 10.
After seeing the quality of submissions in this contest, I can't wait for the next one!

1. Lets talk about it.
