Bobby_M has put together a very detailed How-To concerning making a housing for an underwater video camera. Using PVC, some latches, an acrylic window, some bitchin' red paint, and some other odds-and-ends, Bobby_M spent less than $70 on his creation, which looks as cool as it is useful. (Check out the 40-second clip he made of a recent wreck dive.)
Although we've mentioned DIY underwater housings before, this one is cool, because Bobby_M's design is watertight to at least 92 feet. As with many DIY housings, of course, the problem with not being able to operate the controls exists. In other words, if you feel a need to do lots of zooming and panning, then this housing ain't for you. On the other hand, if you just want to turn on the camera, hit the water, and record continuously, Bobby_M may have saved you a few bucks!
