Seventy-five years ago, Russell and Blanche Warren disappeared. For decades, the disappearance of the young couple confused and saddened community members. However, when scuba divers spotted the couples' car -- a 1927 Chevy -- submerged in Washington's Lake Crescent, the fog started to lift. Soon, other things begin to appear: the dress Blanche was wearing that night; the lid from a washing machine they had just purchased; Russell's skull cap and leg bone.
Russell's skull cap and leg bone!
Last weekend, amateur sleuth and recreational diver John Rawlings -- who had been planning a simple recon dive around the Warrens' car for debris -- swam up on the bones. "Here I am just looking around for any odds and ends that may have fallen off the car and suddenly I am face to face with Russell Warren," he said, cautioning that until DNA testing is performed, the bones cannot be positively identified.
Just try to imagine Rawlings' surprise when he discovered the bones. After all, he would've been happy just to find a radio knob or some chrome from the bumper.

1. After all the years of searching, it was an emotional find for Bill Walker, one of nine divers in the lake Saturday, and for the Warren family survivors, who once again gathered on the shore hoping for an answer.
