On Tuesday, 72-year old George Sipp was scuba diving with friends and family in about 20 feet of water near Alligator Reef, a beginner's dive spot on the Atlantic side of Islamorada, Florida. Unfortunately, Sipp failed to surface after the dive; local boaters found him floating face-down about an hour later. According to officials, Sipp's tank was empty and his weight belt was missing, which suggests that he experienced an emergency situation, tried to ascend, but failed. The medical examiner is planning an autopsy to try to establish the cause of death.

1. Just out of curiosity. Didn't his buddy notice him when he was in the emergency situation?
