When Ian Usher wanted to make a short film using his dog, Baxter, as its subject, he really wanted to take some underwater shots of the dog swimming. Rather than invest in an underwater camera and attendant housing, however, he decided he'd just make the housing himself. Using a borrowed Panasonic camcorder, some plumbing pipe, a piece of glass, and some sealant, Usher made his housing for $19. Here's how he did it:
Of course, I don't think the housing will work at depth. Moreover, you have to turn on the camera, slide it into the housing, and then shoot continuously; there is no pause button available. Nevertheless, Usher's clever design would be highly adequate for a beach trip; some casual snorkeling; or for something like a dive at Stingray City.

1. Hello, I too wanted to do some underwater shooting, and my first thought after seeing the outragious price of housing thought pvc, so I searched and your video came up. Excellent work! I do however have a few qiuck questions. First, What sealant(s) did you use? Second, for the end that the camera is put in, what did u use to seel it? Were the threads enough? Third, why the base on the bottom? I appreciate the help!
