The Seattle 1000 is a one-of-a-kind submarine. At 118 feet long and boasting a 21-foot beam, the air-conditioned, temperature-controlled sub glides in at just under $20 million. For that money, however, the purchaser can select the sub's fabrics and appointments, and help design the layout of the rooms. Twenty million bucks also buys you a cruising range of 3000 nautical miles -- meaning passengers can cross the Atlantic in the Seattle -- and a depth-rating of 1000 feet. Considering the battery size and the storage space on the sub, passengers can remain submerged comfortably for nearly three weeks.
If this appeals to you, but you think you might come up a little bit short on the payments, US Subs, the manufacturers of the Seattle, suggest the following: Purchase the sub, rent out rooms by the night, and market it as "a submarine version of the Orient Express." They recommend that a 24-hour trip be priced around $2500 per person.
I wonder if we could arrange a time share for this.

1. I have been eyeing the Phoenix 1000 for years, which is the Seattle's BIG brother. It's about 200' long and has EVERYTHING, up to a dock allowing a smaller sub (like the Discovery 1000) to be used as a run-about. Price: 80 megabucks. Takers, anyone?
