Dive With Scuba Cat, Raise Money For A Charity

the MV
Scuba CatUsually, when I think of fund-raising, I think: bake sales; pledges made for miles walked; or desperate announcers pleading for dollars. But who says fund-raising has to be boring? When Canadian-owned Scuba Cat – based in Phuket – dreams of ways to raise money, they do it right! They recently announced their participation in the Overland-Underwater Expedition and charity drive.

Let me back up: the Overland-Underwater Expedition is a group of friends who are 35 weeks into a 100,000-mile charity drive from the to in aid of CARE International. During the 18 months of the journey they are traveling through 26 different countries; part of their goal is to raise money by scuba diving in as many countries as possible. (Dang! Why didn’t I think of something like this?! What a totally fantastic idea!)

Back to Scuba Cat. They’re planning a special liveaboard dive trip to the
Similan Islands from April 23 - 26. For each guest that accompanies them on the trip, Scuba Cat will donate $100 to CARE International. If you are sitting there thinking that a trip like this probably wouldn’t be worth your while, check out Scuba Cat’s blog. A totally fantastic idea, the blog gives you a daily run-down of the dives Scuba Cat makes and what kinds of marine life it sees (think: daily manta ray sightings, spiced up with the occasional whale shark!). It’s not too late to plan a trip, especially if you live in the area!
