Ocean posted a quick-and-dirty guide on BC Maintenance. He points out that as we begin to emerge from winter, and
our BCs have been sitting in closets, laundry rooms, storage sheds – or wherever – we should spend a few
minutes going over this crucial piece of gear, which could save our lives. According to Jack, we should pay particular
attention to the inflator valve, an inexpensive piece of hardware that is the most frequent item to fail on a
BC.
If you don’t really know how to examine your gear, check out Jack’s HOW TO, and you’ll get a good idea. Of course, if after reading his piece, you’re still confused, take the BC to your dive shop and have a professional give it a once-over. Does anybody have any other tips to add to Jack’s list?
