Divester mentioned SeaLife’s DC500 underwater camera waaaaay back in July; I even included it in my list of the Top 10 Waterproof Tech Items of 2004. Now, it seems that Time is riding my coattails and calling the DC500 “One of the Most Amazing Inventions of 2005.” Congrats, of course, to SeaLife, but shouldn’t Divester get a little love, too? Huh, Time, where’s the love?
Anyway, the SeaLife… A mere $549 gets you a docking station, international plugs, a photo editing program, a rechargeable lithium battery, and a carrying case. Depth-rated to 200 feet, the 3.5-inch by 5.5 inch DC500 features a “Shark Mode” for snapping faster and sharper pictures of moving objects underwater. The camera also features a 2" LCD, full rubber armoring, ergonomic button designs, and a new auto focus system able to focus as close as two inches. This camera is priced right and gets Divester’s Time’s stamp of approval.
