South African police officer Ivan Gerger has a very unusual hobby: he catches sharks in his free time for the shark aquarium in Jeffrey’s Bay, a little surfer hangout. (I spent a week there; it’s beautiful and very relaxed.). The aquarium then exports the sharks to other aquariums around the world. This week Gerger tried to catch a ragged-toothed shark that wasn’t very interested in being caught. According to a police spokesperson, the shark “bit both his hands and his right leg. The shark [also] bit his palm and fingers but didn't bite anything off.” After biting him, the shark swam back into the ocean. Gerger’s condition is reportedly stable. I wonder if it’s too late for Gerger to pick up rollerblading? Ragged Tooth Shark Attacks South African Cop
