Chinese Diver Bitten By Shark Gets Money, No Respect

earWe mentioned Zhang Liang in September. Remember him? He was the diver in the aquarium who was bitten on the ear by a shark and subsequently began suffering from “a serious mental disease” called greed because he started having “visions of sharks.” As a result of the incident, Liang decided to sue the aquarium for medical expenses and “mental anguish.” Well, last week a Chinese court awarded Liang 13,000 yuan (US$1,605). Considering the sum, I’m guessing he only recovered medical expenses -- for the 3 stitches he required. Rather than leave well enough alone, however, Zhang’s lawyer says he might appeal the decision, as the People’s Court didn't order the aquarium to offer him a public apology.
