We mentioned
Zhang Liang in September. Remember him? He was the diver in the aquarium who was bitten on the ear by a shark and subsequently began suffering from “
a serious mental disease” called greed because he started having “visions of sharks.” As a result of the incident, Liang decided to sue the aquarium for medical expenses and “mental anguish.” Well, last week a Chinese court awarded Liang 13,000 yuan (US$1,605). Considering the sum, I’m guessing he only recovered medical expenses -- for the 3 stitches he required. Rather than leave well enough alone, however, Zhang’s lawyer says he might appeal the decision, as the People’s Court didn't order the aquarium to offer him a public apology.
