Greenpeace Fined for Harming Reef

greenpeace Ah, the irony. According to this story in an Australian news site, the Rainbow Warrior II, a Greenpeace vessel, cut through a coral reef in Tubbataha Reef Marine Park in the central Philippines and tore it up real bad. Ouch.

Worse, this was all done during a climate change awareness campaign. Of course, the Greenpeace folks said it was accidental, and you have to believe them, but no matter how awful the situation, you can't help giggle just a little.

The Greenpeace folks have been ordered to pay a fine of about $15,000 for messing up the reef, which they say they will do...so there goes that donation you made last month to the cheery girl that came up to you on the street.
