A woman, who was part of a group trying to help a seal back in the water, had her nose bitten off by the seal for her effort. The nose was found but she is undergoing surgery to reconstruct it after it was determine it could not be reattached.
I had dozens of close up dives with seals and I've never thought of them as dangerous, in fact I've always had playful encounters with them. This moment of clarity snapped me back to the realization that as playful as seals are, they are still wild animals with sharp teeth.
I hope surgery goes well for her and this just becomes a really good story.

1. I'm thinking I should laugh at how that all went down, it must have been quite bulbous...
