Therefore, when the Japanese researchers wanted photos of squid, they used the whales as guides to help them pinpoint potential squid hang-outs. Ultimately, the scientists captured over 500 images of the squid. According to the researchers, the squid “appears to be a much more active predator than previously suspected, using its elongated feeding tentacles to strike and tangle prey.” The link has a few of the 500 images.
