Last week, a
Philippines patrol vessel spotted 5 men who appeared to be
looting the scuttled USS New York in
Subic Bay. When the patrol vessel approached the divers, one man jumped into the water; he was critically injured attempting to escape and died on the way to a local hospital. A second diver was arrested at the scene. Officials are searching for the three remaining divers who escaped during the brouhaha.
