Jelly-fish 45 Underwater Habitat

submerged love shackWhen I think of liveaboards, I think: miniature cabins, humid hallways, and alternately enjoying myself while waiting to return home. Well, it seems Giancarlo Zema has anticipated my thoughts and designed the Jelly-Fish 45, a floating dwelling 33 feet tall and about 45 feet wide.

Resembling a child’s top, the body of the Jelly-fish 45 is constructed entirely from high density fiberglass. Appointed with solid teak flooring and powered by photovoltaic panels, the Jelly-fish is a high-end houseboat with a submerged lower deck for dining, drinking, and enjoying the view. The Jelly-fish probably won’t be motoring around in the Caribbean anytime soon, but I could see a developer purchasing a row of these (at $2.5 million per) and plunking them in the ocean near a coral reef somewhere and counting the cash in between counting the fish. All it needs is a little escape hatch so scuba divers can slip out during the day...
