Slim Down for Summer with That's Fit

Tragedy in Vanuatu

Tiger SharkImagine:

You and your spouse are sitting on a white, sandy, clean beach on Vanuatu. You haven’t worn shoes in a week. You've made several unforgettable dives in the past two days. Maybe you’re sipping a cool drink; a slight breeze rustles the palms behind you and cools your tan skin; dinner tonight will be the fish the local fishermen are just now hauling in. Perfect. Two of your children are playing in a canoe in the water. Your third child, a 7-year-old girl, is frolicking in the ocean near them.

Suddenly, the 7-year-old screams and is pulled underwater. Splashing. You rush to her limp body. Blood. You scoop her up and travel by local truck 3½ miles (which takes an insufferably long 30 minutes) to a nearby hospital. A doctor pronounces her DOA; she'd been mauled by a tiger shark, which took her leg and caused severe internal injuries.

This happened yesterday.
