Maybe the SportSub didn’t quite fit your needs. Well, Seahorse Submarines manufactures 1-, 2-, 3-, 5- and 7-seater recreational submersibles, too. Whereas the SportSub is an ambient pressure sub – meaning passengers are wet up to the waist – the various Seahorse models are completely sealed so passengers stay dry. High-pressure steel tanks feed the air system, so passengers breathe with no need to wear gear. Seahorses can reach depths of 140 feet and can cruise at 4 knots submerged, and 5 knots on the surface.
Seahorse also manufactures the Liftraft, a catamaran that can be partially submerged. A ballast system within the hulls allows users to adjust the height of the boat relative to the water. According to the website, the between-hulls platform can carry “a mini-submarine, a small boat, objects, divers with their equipment, swimmers and snorkelers.” Wow! The Liftraft can carry objects! Wisecracks aside, both vehicles look totally cool. Contact the manufacturer for prices (read: $$$).
