The Red Sea Star Restaurant

At Red Sea Star every seat is greatThree weeks ago, I posted about Ithaa, the world’s “first all-glass underwater restaurant” located at the Hilton Maldives Resort and Spa.  Well, today I discovered that, while Ithaa is the first all-glass restaurant underwater, it is not the world's first underwater restaurant.  (A subtle distinction.)

Rather, that honor belongs to Israel’s Red Sea Star.  Located 15 feet underwater, the Red Sea Star seats 105 guests, and has 2 windows for each table – one next to your table and one above it.  There’s also an underwater lounge: the Red Sea Star Bar!  Interestingly, four years prior to the grand opening, the “Star” team began growing an underwater coral nursery, so diners could gaze at a coral reef while eating Dennis, the local seafood specialty.  While searching, I also discovered a pano of the inside of the Red Sea Star, as well as a review of the dining experience
