I know what you’re going to think when you read this: I’ve never been diving in
Anyway, Steve Chapple’s piece about diving La Jolla Cove, The Shores, and La Jolla Canyon makes me want to go. While these 3 pages aren’t earth-shattering, it’s a nice read: a relaxing read. Just like a good weekend of diving should be. So if you – like me – can’t make it out to La Jolla this weekend, read the article, close your eyes, and pretend for a minute that you’ve just finished a terrific afternoon dive; you’re on the hang bar; a Garibaldi has just flashed past; and you’re headed to the Marine Room for sunset cocktails. (Smile. Sigh.

1. I dive here every Saturday, it's wonderful. I've had one of the best dives of my life in 25 feet of water at La Jolla Shores. We had just come back on scooters from the canyon and were suddenly followed by a school of sardines. The water that day was gin-clear and as the school of sardines hid underneath us we could see shadows coming from the above the surface. Suddenly, the school of sardines made a run for it and from above commerants and sea gulls dive bombed the school all around us. It was amazing, I felt like I was in a National Geographic shoot.
