One of the more innovative toys I saw at OceanFest wasn’t diving gear. However, if you like diving, you might think it’s a fun gadget. Tippmann Aquatics manufactures the Surf Shark and the Electric Dolphin, which are 2-foot-tall battery-powered thrusters contained inside a fiberglass body. The clever thing about these dive propulsion vehicles is that they push the user from behind – leaving the users hands free – as opposed to other DPVs that pull the user. Additionally, they look like loads of fun. A few short videos on their website demonstrate how they work. The Surf Shark costs $3300, and the Electric Dolphin costs $2200 -- the difference is in speed and run time (30 and 60 minutes, respectively). Check them out and let us know what you think. Is the price worth it? Surf Shark and Electric Dolphin

5. I don't know why, but I keep getting images of Wile E. Coyote and Acme Jet Propelled skates. :)

6. Man, you Wile E. Coyote people need to open your eyes. This is one of the best products I've seen in years. The biggest benefit being that your hands are free to do what so much of us love to do underwater: take pictures.
Also, it's not recommended for depth because so called "yo-yo" diving is an easy way to get your body gasses into trouble. Use it responsibly and it's no problem.
You guys see cartoons, I see James Bond - the cool factor on this thing is simply off the scale!

1. oh, that's a terrible idea. Can you imagine what happens when you have a run away scooter with that thing? It's about as funny as Jet Boots, www.jetboots.com
I personally like my Gavin tow behind scooter thank you, it's about the same price.
