Underwater cameras are important to divers. My camera (a Sony DSC-P72: high quality for a little point-n-shoot) has an underwater housing, but it’s been discontinued by Sony. Natch. (There is one available on eBay for > $265, which is more than the price of the camera.) I considered building my own underwater housing, but I decided I wasn’t up to it. (Who has a deburring tool?)
Anyway, I assume others are in my predicament (camera, yes; housing, no). Through Camerahacker, I found ewa-marine, a German company that manufactures durable, laminated PVC bags suitable for underwater cameras and video cameras. The housing for my camera is only depth-rated for 30 feet, though, and depending on where I buy it, the price starts at $80. Has anybody ever heard of ewa-marine or seen their housings? What do you think? Thumbs up or down?
